Is COVID under control?

There are two parts to answer this.


Vaccine development looks exceptionally promising. That is a 2021 story however we can already see markets leaning towards this story in the sector rotation we have witnessed recently.


Current infection rates in the developed markets we focus on remain however largely out of control. This is the 2020 reality. Combined with a lame duck US administration and intense political frictions leading into the Georgia senate run-offs there remains a lot of potential bad news from the virus in the near term.


The data below illustrates a snapshot of infections, ICU patients and new deaths over the 24 hours of 17 November 2020 in various significant global economies to illustrate this point.
